Essential temporary workers and International Graduates PR Pathway

A new pathway to permanent residency for over 90,000 health care workers, essential temporary workers and international graduates is announced today by the Honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC).

As of May 6, 2021, IRCC will be accepting PR applications through 3 new streams:

Stream 1: 20,000 applications for temporary workers in a health-care profession. There is no cap for French-speaking applicants under this stream. You must:

• Have acquired at least one year of full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time experience (1,560 hours) in a health-care profession in Canada.

• Achieve CLB 4 in English or French

• Be physically present in Canada

Stream 2: 30,000 applications for temporary workers in other selected essential occupations. There is no cap for French-speaking applicants under this stream. You must:

• Have acquired at least one year of full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time experience (1,560 hours) in a pre-approved essential occupation in Canada.

• Achieve CLB 4 in English or French

• Be physically present in Canada

Steam 3: 40,000 applications for international students who graduated from a Canadian institution. There is no cap for French-speaking applicants under this stream. You must:

• have completed a program at one of the DLI prior to the PR application but no earlier than January 2017.

• have obtained a recognized credential/credentials

• currently work in Canada with a valid work permit

• achieve CLB 5 in English or French

• Be physically present in Canada

The tentative closing date for these applications is set on November 5, 2021, or until the 90,000 limit is reached.
